The thing I hadn't counted on was not really talking to my best friend anymore. Not out of anger or anything like that but really just because all we ever did was smoke and drink on his back porch with our spouses. Being pregnant kinda hinders that. I quit drinking and smoking. Also, it was hot as hell outside and I was always hot as it was, so I wasn't going to hang out in 90 something degree weather with 80% humidity at 5 months pregnant. So, that quality time was gone. We kind of drifted away from going over there to hang out. And they never come to our house even though we live a block away. So we just kind of stopped hanging out. And now I only talk to some of my friends online or via email.
Don't get me wrong, we have "couple" friends that we go to dinner with occasionally and a few people that I can call to hang with on occasion but no friends that I can meet for coffee during the day with the kid or whatever. I need to work harder to find mommies or something.
We are starting with kindermusik today. I'm hoping there will be a mom there that I have something in common with. This shopping for new mommy friends is so much like dating. Here's hoping I find someone I want to go on a date with today. :-) Suggestions on how to meet other mommies, anyone?
I have no mommy friends where I live either. It's funny before I got pregnant I had only one friend with kids, that I babysat for often, but after getting pregnant and having Levi, she never even calls to see how we're doing. I guess she figured her sitter would be out of commission.
ReplyDeleteYeah, people forget to tell you this part of the pregnancy. Oh well, I'll take my baby over my so called friends anyday.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! My baby is my best friend these days but thats fine. He likes me most of the time. :-) Another test that really reveals who your true friends are!!!
